It's time to raise our voices in unison to support public education. Educators, parents, students and community members will have the opportunity to speak as one on Saturday, June 8, at the Empire State Plaza in Albany, from noon to 2 p.m. Thousands of New Yorkers are expected to join together on that day in a fight for the future of public education. Their voice - your voice - needs to be heard in this era of attacks on our profession and on what's good for students.

If you: became local president after April 2011; will be a new local president in 2013-2014; or will be local president again after a period of five years or more, make plans now to attend the New Local Presidents Conference to be held on June 24-26, 2013 at NYSUT Headquarters, Latham and the Holiday Inn, Albany and on June 27 in your Regional Office. Packed with practical advice, information and materials, the conference sessions are designed to help new local leaders build and maintain strong local unions. NYSUT's Local Action Project offers your the local union the opportunity to partner with NYSUT in developing a plan for community action. Locals selected to participate in LAP through a competitive application process receive training, resources and support from NYSUT throughout their three-year LAP commitment. Teams from each local union learn proven strategies for increasing member participation, building community support for key initiatives and focusing on ensuring the highest quality public education for all students.
