In-Service Dental Plan

This plan provides in-service (non-retiree) members with benefits for covered dental services. The plan pays the same benefit payments for services received from a participating dentist as it will for services received from an out-of-network dentist. However, because participating dentists have agreed to a negotiated fee schedule, members using a participating dentist will generally realize a greater benefit as their out-of-pocket expenses will be lower. Members electing to receive services from non-participating dentists will generally have higher out-of-pocket costs for all types of service.

The NYSUT Member Benefits Trust-endorsed In-Service Dental Plan is underwritten by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, New York, NY. The plan is administered by P&A Group.

The MetLife In-Service Dental Plan is a NYSUT Member Benefits Trust (Member Benefits)-endorsed program. Member Benefits has an endorsement arrangement of 5% of gross premiums for this program. All such payments to Member Benefits are used solely to defray the costs of administering its various programs and, where appropriate, to enhance them. Agency fee payers to NYSUT are eligible to participate in NYSUT Member Benefits-endorsed programs.
