Representatives from NYSUT Member Benefits Trust are available to make a presentation to your local’s executive family, bargaining team, employer, benefit fund trustees or your general membership.
Presentations can address any or all of NYSUT Member Benefits Trust-endorsed voluntary benefits available to individual members; payroll deduction for NYSUT Member Benefits Trust; endorsed group benefit plans available for purchase by locals, benefit funds or employers; employer contributions to 403(b) tax-deferred annuity plans; identity theft/fraud workshops; and credit/credit report workshops.

In addition to the above, the following presentations for members are available:
· Payroll Deduction– This presentation explains to members how payroll deduction of Member Benefits-endorsed programs is implemented; the advantages, various discounts and additional benefits provided by many programs when this payment method is used; and the local association’s role in bringing this to the members.
· Estate Planning– These presentations are offered through the provider of our endorsed Legal Service Plan, Feldman, Kramer & Monaco, P.C., at no charge. They have received wonderful reviews from our retiree attendees.
· Defensive Driving Courses– Besides brushing up on defensive driving skills, course completion will yield premium reductions on your automobile insurance premiums and point reductions on your licenses. (Available in NYS only.) The cost to attend these courses is $30 per person.
· Consumer Credit Counseling– These presentations offer personal financial management education. (Offered for a fee by Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Central New York.)
· MetDESK [Division of Estate Planning for Special Kids (of all ages)]– Trained specialists help navigate through the financial and legal issues involved in providing lifetime care for kids with special needs.
· Identity Theft/Fraud Workshops– These workshops have received rave reviews from attendees. This workshop explores to what degree your identity is at risk, the latest techniques thieves use to obtain your personal information, how to protect yourself and your identity, and what to do if you become an identity theft victim.
· 403(b) Basics– This presentation, designed for new NYSUT members, offers a basic understanding of 403(b) retirement savings plans and stresses the need for members to start saving for retirement early in their career.
· 403(b) Employer Contributions– This presentation explains what an employer contribution is and walks the member through the process.
· 403(b) Regulations Overview– This presentation reviews the recently released IRS regulations.
New in 2008
· Inside the 403(b)– This presentation is designed to help members better understand their options when choosing a 403(b) plan by taking a detailed look at the various types of 403(b) programs available.
· Unraveling the Mysteries of Credit and Credit Reports– Credit is an important aspect of today's society. When credit is used properly it can enhance someone's life, but if used incorrectly it can cause loss of control of your income and potential loss of assets. Participants will learn credit basics, examine the different types of credit available, and take a more in-depth look at the most commonly used credit option, credit cards. In addition, participants will gain an understanding of personal credit reports, how to manage their own credit report, and its effect on the credit process.
