Consumer Price Index - April 2008
ALL URBAN CONSUMERS
The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for April 2008 was 214.823 – representing an increase of 3.9 percent over the index for April 2007.
The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for April 2008 was 228.133 – representing an increase of 3.9 percent over the index for April 2007.
The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for April 2008 was 233.822 – representing an increase of 3.6 percent over the index for April 2007.
The May CPI will be available June 13, 2008.
Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found on page 3. CPI increases are projected at 3.7 percent for 2008 and 2.5 percent in 2009.
