ALL URBAN CONSUMERS
The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for May 2008 was 216.632 — representing an increase of 4.2 percent over the index for May 2007.
The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for May 2008 was 230.089 – representing an increase of 4.3 percent over the index for May 2007.
The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for May 2 008was 236.151 — representing an increase of 4.0 percent over the index for May 2007.
The June CPI will be available July 16, 2008.
Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found on page 3. CPI increases are projected at 3.9percent for 2008 and 2.6 percent in 2009.
