The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October 2008 was 216.573 — representing an increase of 3.7 percent over the index for October 2007.
The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for October 2008 was 230.837 – representing an increase of 4.0 percent over the index for October 2007.
The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for October 2008 was 238.403 — representing an increase of 4.3 percent over the index for October 2007.
The November CPI will be available December 16, 2008.
Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found on page 3.CPI increases are projected at 4.4 percent for 2008 and 2.5 percent in 2009.
