The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for December 2008 was 210.228 — representing an increase of 0.1 percent over the index for December 2007.
The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for December 2008 was 225.091 – representing an increase of 0.7 percent over the index for December 2007.
The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for December 2008 was 233.012 — representing an increase of 1.6 percent over the index for December 2007.
The January CPI will be available February 20, 2009.
Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found on page 3.CPI increases are projected at -0.4 percent for 2009 and 2.0 percent in 2010.
Contingency Budget cap set at 4.00% for 2009-10 (see page 4).
