The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for January 2009 was 211.143 — representing an increase of 0.0 percent over the index for January 2008.
The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for January 2009 was 225.436 – representing an increase of 0.5 percent over the index for January 2008.
The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for January 2009 was 233.402 — representing an increase of 1.5 percent over the index for January 2008.
The February CPI will be available March 18, 2009.
Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found on page 3.CPI increases are projected at -0.8 percent for 2009 and 1.8 percent in 2010.
