The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for August 2009 was 215.834 — representing a change of -1.5 percent over the index for August 2008.
The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for August 2009 was 230.883 – representing a change of -1.2 percent over the index for August 2008.
The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for August 2009 was 238.282 — representing a change of -0.9 percent over the index for August 2008.
The September CPI will be available October 15, 2009.
Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found on page 3.CPI increases are projected at -0.5 percent for 2009 and 1.8 percent in 2010.
