The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for September 2009 was 215.969 — representing a change of -1.3 percent over the index for September 2008.
The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for September 2009 was 231.200 – representing a change of -0.7 percent over the index for September 2008.
The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for September 2009 was 238.568 — representing a change of -0.6 percent over the index for September 2008.
The October CPI will be available November 18, 2009.
Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found on page 3.CPI increases are projected at -0.5 percent for 2009 and 1.9 percent in 2010.
