The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for July 2006 was
203.5 — representing an increase of 4.1 percent over the index for July 2005.
The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for
July 2006was 223.1 — representing an increase of 5.0 percent over the index for July 2005.
The August CPI will be available September 15, 2006.
Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found on page 3. CPI increases are projected at 3.5 percent for 2006 and 2.7 percent in 2007.
