The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for July 2007 was 208.299 – representing an increase of 2.4 percent over the index for July 2006.
The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for July 2007 was 221.945 – representing an increase of 2.0 percent over the index for June 2006.
The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for July 2007 was 228.628 – representing an increase of 2.5 percent over the index for July 2006.
The August CPI will be available September 19, 2007.
Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found on page 3. CPI increases are projected at 2.8percent for 2007 and 2.6 percent in 2008.
Effective with the January 2007 release, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has begun to publish all CPI index levels to three decimal places and will calculate percent changes based on these three decimal places. As in the past, percent changes in the CPI will be rounded to one decimal place.
