The United States City Average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for January 2008 was 211.080 — representing an increase of 4.3 percent over the index for January 2007.
The Northeast Area Consumer Price Index for January 2008 was 224.325 – representing an increase of 3.9 percent over the index for January 2007.
The New York-Northern New Jersey Area Consumer Price Index for January 2008 was 229.869 — representing an increase of 3.7 percent over the index for January 2007.
The February CPI will be available March 14, 2008.
Future projections of the CPI by businesses and economic organizations are found on page 3. CPI increases are projected at 3.0percent for 2008 and 2.2 percent in 2009.
