Support Passage of the Employee Free Choice Act

As one of the over 600,000 members of the New York State United Teachers (NYSUT) and a constituent I urge you to support swift passage of the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) (H.R. 1409; S. 560).
EFCA is an important piece of legislation which would give working people the freedom to form unions and bargain collectively. Workers need new laws that level the playing field and provide protection to those who want to form a union without interference from employers. Union members make on average 30 percent more than nonunion employees and are far more likely to have health care, pensions and benefits.
The Employee Free Choice Act has widespread bipartisan backing throughout Congress and I hope that you will enact this important piece of legislation quickly because workers are the key to rebuilding America's middle class.
