NYSUT Election Districts

In 2010, the NYSUT Board of Directors approved a redistricting plan which implemented the NYSUT constitutional requirement for a redistricting of NYSUT election districts to accommodate the increase in membership in certain geographical areas as a result of the Unification, and in order to achieve proportional representation on the NYSUT Board of Directors in those areas.

The newly configured election districts were used for balloting in the 2011 NYSUT elections conducted at the Representative Assembly and are now the official election districts for NYSUT governance purposes. The Election District maps and lists of locals apply to both in-service members and retirees.

Also as part of the approved redistricting plan, the NYSUT Board of Directors simultaneously created a Retiree Council for each of the newly established Election Districts 44, 45 and 46.

Under the overall redistricting plan, all of the in-service and retired members formerly in Election Districts 4, 11, 12, 44, 45, & 46 and former NEA/NY districts A, B, C, D and E are now members in either Election District 4, 11, 12, 44, 45 or 46, or their respective Retiree Council counterpart.

You can check which your election district or that of your local by reviewing the redistricting information using the links and map below.

If you have any questions regarding the redistricting process please feel free to contact Patrick Lyons, Assistant to the President at 1-800-342-9810, Ext. 6465.
