Mercy College Graduate Degree Partnership Programs

• Childhood Education – Professional Certification
• Teaching Literacy, Birth – 6 or Grades 5-12
• Early Childhood Education (Special Education option)
• Childhood Education (Special Education option)
• Middle Childhood Education (Special Education option)
• Adolescence Education (Special Education option)

Program participants complete up to 15 credits with NYSUT ELT and then matriculate into one of the programs listed above. NYSUT courses are offered in Wappingers Falls and Yorktown Heights at the Trust's discounted tuition rate. NYSUT members then receive a one-third tuition scholarship on remaining program courses (offered at one of the college campuses).

Mercy College, Bronx Campus

Teaching Literacy, Birth – Grade 6 or Grades 5-12

NYSUT offers:

• EDUC 507: Approaches to Literacy Instruction in Early Childhood through Adolescence, Including Students with Disabilities
• EDUC 561: Literacy Instruction for Students with Disabilities
• EDUC 648: Dimensions of Learning and Literacy

Track 1: Teaching Literacy, Birth – Grade 6

• EDUC 522: Language Development and Literacy Acquisition
• EDUC 600: Multicultural Children's Literature through Middle Childhood

Track 2: Teaching Literacy, Grades 5 – 12

• EDUC 511: Methods and Materials in Adolescence Education
• EDUC 565: The Writing Process and Instructional Strategies, Grades 5 - 12
