Tell SED what you think

Should the state change the schedule of grades 3-8 tests for English language arts and math?

With an earlier survey showing a call for change but no clear consensus on how to do it, State Ed has posted a follow-up survey narrowing the options to three major choices:

  • Administer ELA and math concurrently during the first week of May and score both sets of exams during the second week of May.
  • Keep the administration of grades 3-8 math tests in early March and move ELA tests from January to late March/early April.
  • Retain the current testing calendar — as long as State Ed can return test scores earlier.

NYSUT Vice President Maria Neira urged members involved in grades 3-8 testing to take the brief online SED survey.

You can link to the survey via www.nysut.org or at http://www.forms2.nysed.gov/emsc/osa/Grades38testing.

The survey will be available through May 29.
