VIDEO: 'Every Child Counts'

About the video

NYSUT aired this new video showcasing the efforts of union members to end New York's achievement gap April 27, 2007, at the union's 35th annual Representative Assembly.

The video offers an inside look at the efforts of NYSUT teachers, higher ed members and School-Related Professionals from across the state who have worked diligently to make sure that every child, regardless of race, economic background or special needs, receives access to quality education from pre-K through post-grad.

New York City, Elmont on Long Island and Mannsville in the North Country are examples of the many communities making progress in raising achievement among low-income students, English language learners and other at-risk student groups. The video reinforces NYSUT's belief that ending the achievement gap requires New York to address a variety of contributing social factors, such as poverty, health care, housing and access to early childhood education.
