Moment of silence: Delegates honor Roberta King
Delegates to NYSUT's annual convention morning paused Saturday morning to honor Roberta King, 72, a NYSUT retiree who was killed when a gunman opened fire in the American Civic Association building Friday in Binghamton.
A volunteer, King taught English to immigrants who want to become American citizens. She was a member of Substitutes United of Broome County. Twelve other people were killed in the rampage. Delegates collected $5,000 at the RA to aid victims' families in the aftermath of the tragedy.
