New York State United Teachers and the American Cancer Society are teaming up again for your good health.

Members of NYSUT now have access to FightCancer.org, a Web site containing valuable information about staying fit and learning about cancer and general health issues.

"This site gives our members another tool for protecting their own health and that of their loved ones as well as raising awareness about cancer in their local community," said NYSUT Vice President Maria Neira.

Using a special NYSUT log-in, members can access tools for self-assessment as well as tips on improving diet and the benefits of staying active.

One section contains the American Cancer Society's guidelines for early cancer detection and information about screening.

The site allows ZIP code-based searches and signups for regional screening programs, special events and other ACS activities.

The Web site is the latest joint project between ACS and the statewide union.

Since 2003, NYSUT has been a statewide flagship sponsor of the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks. In October, more than 6,500 NYSUT members and staff took part in the walks, raising more than $650,000 and bringing the three-year total to more than $1.5 million.
