Help unionists with donation to disaster fund
With financial help from NYSUT's Disaster Relief Fund, residents of Texas, Louisiana and other parts of the nation are on the long road to recovery from hurricanes Gustav and Ike. Now, the fund needs your help.
"The generosity of our members and their locals will benefit brothers and sisters in need," said NYSUT President Dick Iannuzzi in calling for donations to replenish the fund.
The fund has provided contributions to NYSUT's two national affiliates, the American Federation of Teachers and National Education Association relief funds, targeting relief to AFT and NEA members.
NYSUT is also supporting relief agencies in the affected areas through the American Red Cross and the United Way of New York.
The Disaster Relief Fund has helped many NYSUT members recover from natural disasters, including severe floods in recent years in Sullivan County and the Southern Tier.
