9/11 signup under way

Workers and volunteers who participated in rescue, cleanup or recovery operations following the attack on the World Trade Center have one year left to register with the state Workers' Compensation Board to preserve their right to file for 9/11-related compensation.

Registering protects the right to free health care for current or future related illness. There is no residency or citizenship requirement.

Workers in lower Manhattan south of Canal or Pike Streets; the Staten Island landfill; the barge; or morgues are eligible to register until Sept. 11, 2010. Go to www.nycosh.org.
