Medicare Rights Center needs volunteers
Are you interested in improving the quality of life for low-income older New Yorkers? Volunteer for the Medicare Rights Center's program, Linking Individuals in Need to Care and Services.
LINCS volunteers work one-on-one with low-income seniors to help them complete and submit applications for Extra Help, a program that lowers out-of-pocket prescription costs for qualified seniors.
You choose the days and times to work. All contact is by your home phone and Internet.
A LINCS program coordinator works with volunteers to make sure they have everything they need to help callers.
Ideal candidates have simultaneous Internet and telephone capacity, and can commit to volunteering three to four hours per week.
NYSUT has a contract with the Medicare Rights Center, a national non-profit consumer service group, to advise union members.
