State budget: the health care prescription
For health care, about 75 percent of proposed cuts in reimbursements to hospitals and nursing homes were restored.
The Legislature approved many of the governor's initiatives for obesity prevention, expanding home health care, preventive care and providing insurance coverage for needy children.
The Berger Commission's proposed privatization of the State University of New York's Upstate Medical University Hospital in Syracuse was not considered as part of the budget deal.
