CC role in teacher prep increasing

The Education Commission of the States has released an issue paper that explores the evolving role community colleges are playing in helping to meet the ongoing demand for quality teachers.

The paper, "Community Colleges and Teacher Preparation: Roles, Issues and Opportunities," came out of a 2006 meeting between ECS and the National Center for Teacher Transformation on the challenges, successes and opportunities available by using community colleges in collaboration with university systems and local education agencies.

The paper is available on the ECS Web site at www.ecs.org/CCteacherprep.
