Take a course from the former teacher of the year
When she addressed NYSUT's 2005 Representative Assembly, state Teacher of the Year Elizabeth Day spoke of the importance of teachers inspiring other teachers. Day has plenty of opportunity to do just that as an instructor for NYSUT's Education & Learning Trust.
Day, a sixth-grade teacher and member of the Mechanicville Teachers Association in Saratoga County, has three decades of teaching experience. As teacher of the year, she visited schools around the state.
She spent this summer with other veteran teachers and School-Related Professionals, being trained to teach various courses for ELT, NYSUT's professional development division.
Day said she is excited to be part of a talented pool of ELT instructors, who each year provide training to thousands of teachers and SRPs throughout New York. Many teacher-instructors are National Board Certified.
"Whether you're a new or veteran teacher, ELT will enhance your classroom skills," Day said.
ELT courses can be taken for in-service credit or to receive undergraduate or graduate credit at public and private colleges throughout New York. To learn more about ELT or how to take a class taught by Day, contact ELT at (800) 528-6208.
