NYSUT focuses on nanotechnology

Classroom tech conference set

Capital District educators will have the chance to learn more about teaching nanotechnology in K-12 classrooms, through fun hands-on experiments that can be reproduced in classrooms for students of all levels at a workshop to be held March 27.

"Using Nanotechnology in the K-12 Classroom" will be offered at NYSUT headquarters in Latham from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27. Registration is available at www.nysut.org/eReg/NANO.

The session will include hands-on demonstrations and activities, discussions, questions and plans for the future, including the "SEMI High Tech U Teacher" program, which NYSUT will roll out in the coming months. Educators interested in teaching industry-based math, science and technology career programs should consider sending representatives to this initial session.

Nanotechnology is based on manipulations of individual atoms and molecules to create computer chips and other devices that are thousands of times smaller than current technologies permit.
