Chris Pendergast is a retired teacher from Northport on Long Island who, in 1993, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. In 1998, building on his career as an educator, Chris founded Ride for Life, an organization dedicated to informing people about ALS and raising funds for research and support services.
