NYSUT as an organization is guided by five frameworks that shape the union's commitment to improving the lives of our members and the people we serve.

The five frameworks are: a strong political voice; internal and external organizing; a clearly communicated message; a social justice agenda; and ongoing education.

The union unveiled the first of a series of videos produced to pull these themes together at the opening session of the convention. The overview outlined all the frameworks, and short pieces devoted to each of the themes will be presented over the next couple of days.

"Our locals are NYSUT in their communities, and their work is enhanced by using the frameworks as a guide to action," said NYSUT President Dick Iannuzzi.
