WYANDANCH, N.Y. November 27, 2007 – Hundreds of Wyandanch educators and union supporters from schools across Long Island will picket outside the Wyandanch school district office on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 28, beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The district office is at 1445 Straight Path, Wyandanch.

The Wyandanch teachers have been working without a new contract since their last agreement expired in August 2005. They are the lowest-paid teachers on Long Island, and the district is offering no raises for the 2006 and 2007 school years.

"The Wyandanch teachers deserve respect, a fair shake and a good contract," said Wyandanch Teachers Association President Peter Noto. "We are committed to our schools and our students. It's time for the district to stop stalling, show some respect and work with us in meeting the needs of this community's children and educators."
