Each year the United Teaching Assistants of Harborfields make a unique effort to touch the hearts - and warm the feet - of their students.

In November the school related professionals held their third annual "boot drive," collecting new and gently used boots from district families. According to President Annie McClintock, the Suffolk County local collected and distributed more than 250 pairs of boots this year. Boots not used by district students were brought to a local family shelter for others in need.

The SRPs coordinate their holiday outreach with teachers, parent-teacher associations, custodial staff, the middle school honor society and school administrators This year they also collaborated with community members on a toy drive.

"It's important to remember those who need and how truly blessed we are, " said McClintock. "We are happy to bring warm feet and happy smiles to those less fortunate than us."
