NYSUT ad pushes for swift action on federal funds

Source:  NYSUT Newswire

NYSUT is urging state legislators in a new ad campaign to make a swift return to Albany and pass vitally needed legislation that would put teachers back into the classroom.

More than 8,000 education jobs statewide stand ready to be restored thanks to the federal jobs bill championed by New York’s Congressional leaders and signed into law by President Obama. But before any of those jobs can be restored, the state Legislature must approve expenditure of the $608 million earmarked for New York.

The print ads placed with statewide media point out that New York’s congressional leaders did their part by passing the jobs bill in Washington, and teachers and students are doing their part to prepare for the new school year.

Now all that’s needed, the ads say, is for state government to do its part — before it’s too late.
