ADVISORY: New York solidarity rallies support workers' rights in Wisconsin

ALBANY, Feb. 25, 2011 - Hundreds of unionists, students and other working people will come together at the state Capitol in Albany Saturday, Feb. 26 in solidarity with the workers and families of Wisconsin, and other states where labor rights are under attack.

The rally is scheduled to begin at noon on the Capitol's west side steps. It is one of 50 rallies planned for across the nation - scheduled for every statehouse in America - to protest the coordinated assault on workers' basic rights.

The Albany rally is being co-sponsored by New York State United Teachers, the New York State AFL-CIO, MoveOn.org and other labor organizations and advocates for working families.

Solidarity rallies are also taking place Saturday in Cheektowaga and Plattsburgh. A rally in Rochester is set for Wednesday, March 2.

  • Cheektowaga: Saturday, Feb. 26, 8:30 a.m. at the Leonard Post Jr. VFW Hall at 2451 Walden Ave.
  • Rochester: Wednesday, March 2, 4:30 p.m. at City Hall in downtown Rochester.
