New York State United Teachers will once again be well represented at the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse, Aug. 23-Sept. 3.
The NYSUT booth - staffed, as always by members from Syracuse region locals - will again be housed in the Center of Progress Building. The exact location will be posted on nysut.org and the union's Facebook page next week.
Volunteers working the booth will greet thousands of New Yorkers, and share with them back-to-school giveaways such as pencils and rulers. Also available this year will be materials dealing with the issue of bullying. The materials are designed for students, parents and teachers.
NYSUT members are encouraged to identify themselves, sign in at a special "members table" and avail themselves of some of the member-only materials at the booth.
The union's secretary-treasurer, Lee Cutler, is scheduled to be on hand on opening day.
