The plaques given to winners of the 2014 State Education Editors awards were handcrafted by students in the technology class at Colonie Central High School in Colonie, N.Y.
In this video, South Colonie Teachers Association member John Gehres and his students talk about the process of preparing the project that yielded 110 customized wood plaques.
The students, in turn, were treated to a hearty "thank you" pizza lunch for their efforts.
