ALBANY, N.Y. May 1, 2014 - New York State United Teachers today congratulated its largest local affiliate, the United Federation of Teachers, on reaching agreement with New York City on a new contract.
"Today's agreement is what happens when you combine extraordinary leadership with remarkable unity," said NYSUT President Karen E. Magee. "This new contract recognizes that UFT members, working together, are a mighty force for positive change; and it's acknowledgement by the city of the incredible job UFT members do every day on behalf of the city's children."
New York State United Teachers is a statewide union with more than 600,000 members in education, human services and health care. NYSUT is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, the National Education Association and the AFL-CIO.
