Delegates unanimously approved a special order of business recognizing the loss of Warren Weinstein, 73, a United University Professions member who was accidentally killed on April 23 when a U.S. drone attacked the location where he was being held hostage by al-Qaeda terrorists.

Weinstein, a former faculty member at the State University of New York at Oswego, was kidnapped by terrorists while he was doing humanitarian work in Pakistan in August 2011, according to UUP President Fred Kowal, who offered the special order of business.

NYSUT President Karen Magee called for a moment of silence in Weinstein's honor.
