Strengthening leadership

June 30-July 5 — The NEA, a NYSUT national affiliate, holds its Representative Assembly in Washington, D.C.

July 16-20 — The Local Action Project (LAP) takes place at the Gideon Putnam Hotel, Saratoga Springs. LAP provides selected local unions an opportunity to build and strengthen their locals through improving membership participation, boosting political action, developing community outreach and coalition building, and enhancing communications.

July 26-30 — The annual convention for the AFT, a NYSUT national affiliate, takes place in Detroit.

Aug. 5-10 — NYSUT's Leadership Institute is held at the Maritime Institute in Linthicum Heights, Md. The institute is for union members who have been identified by their local as having leadership potential.
