Peace First, a national non-profit organization dedicated to teaching peacemaking skills, is accepting nominations for its inaugural "Peace First Prize."
The prize seeks to invest in young peacemakers who are committed to making transformative changes, big and small, in their communities.
Applications will be accepted through April 12. Youth 8-22 years old are eligible.
Five Peace First Prize winners will be announced in the fall. Each receives a $50,000 Peace First Fellowship over two years to further their peacemaking work.
The American Federation of Teachers, NYSUT's national affiliate, has joined efforts to launch the prize campaign.
