Janine Gibney serves as her local's grievance chair and senior building rep and is a delegate to both NYSUT and the AFT. A graduate of the NYSUT Leadership Institute, Gibney said the most effective teachers are those who are also political, community, labor and education activists.
She plans to use the $2,000 grant to help move others to a higher level of activism and engagement.
