Cantafio elected NEA State Delegate

Delegates to NYSUT's 44th Representative Assembly elected Joe Cantafio, West Seneca Teachers Association, the NEA State Delegate after secret balloting.

Cantafio garnered 211,042.77 votes over his opponent, Michael Herlan, Marion TA. Herlan's tally was 78,853.23.

Serena Kotch, Cleveland Hill Educa-tion Association, ran unopposed for NEA State Alternate Delegate and was elected by a single vote cast by NYSUT's secretary-treasurer.

LONGTIME COMMITTEE CHAIR HONORED

RA delegates honored Bob Astrowsky for his more than four decades of service as chair of the NYSUT Representative Assembly Convention Committee.

"Bob's skillful leadership of our annual convention for 44 years has helped create a strong, democratic organization that effectively serves our members, our professions and the larger community," said NYSUT President Karen E. Magee.

"Bob is a loyal United Federation of Teachers member, a proud New Yorker, a fierce advocate for our issues and ideals. And most of all, he is a friend," said Magee.
