State Support for Community Colleges would Decrease to $2,034 per FTE

This year Governor Cuomo has proposed a decrease in Base Aid for community colleges from $2,260 to $2,034 per full-time equivalent (FTE), a decrease of $226 per FTE. This follows last year's decrease of $285 per FTE. Community colleges have reached record numbers for enrollment across the state. The following table provides a recent history of community college Base Aid per FTE.

With the continued decrease in state support the state falls further behind in their responsibility to fund 40% of the net operating cost for community colleges. Creating a budget gap that will further reduce services on New York campuses. There will be a decline in support by 10% reducing general fund support to $427.8 Million for SUNY community colleges and $172.5 Million for CUNY community colleges. SUNY estimates that this will be a $33.2 Million decrease, and CUNY community colleges will receive a reduction of $13.1 Million colleges.
