Chapter 7: Co-Creating an Arts Curriculum in Career and Technical Education

This article explores the practice of integrating English language arts into a Career and Technical Education program. The authors explain three projects that actively incorporate student interests and feedback while meeting core academic and technical standards.
Elizabeth Barber-Breese teaches integrated English language arts for seven Career and Technical Education programs at the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES. She is a member of the Delaware-Chenango BOCES Teachers Association.
Sandra Sheldon, a member of the Delaware-Chenango BOCES TA, teaches visual communications at DCMO BOCES. Sheldon
has been in the design industry for 28 years and the owner of her own design business for 22 years.
