NYSUT is strongly committed to helping New York state gain Race to the Top funding. We will analyze all the recommendations of today's proposal from the perspective of classroom educators. It's important that New York state's application be transparent, fair to students and educators and based on best practice. The Regents and commissioner need to understand that educators are essential to educational change and their voices need to be heard.
As the process moves forward and we are able to further analyze specific details, we might not agree on every recommendation, but our commitment to the end result is very clear: We want excellent public schools for all students.
