Michele E. Brockner
Western Sullivan United Teachers and SRPs
Michele E. Brockner has been an elected officer in the Western Sullivan United Teachers and SRPs for 12 years, and is serving her second year as president. She has attended both the NYSUT and AFT Leadership Institutes and pursued other training opportunities offered through the union. She also is a delegate to both AFT and NYSUT conventions.
She says: "I am passionate about my union involvement and the union's role in my life. ... I have two daughters, ages 10 and 13. When they have asked me why I do the 'union stuff', (as they call it) I always respond, 'so I can help and protect others that need me.'" She hopes each of her children will grow up to "be a proud union member, like their mother."
