TAKE ACTION: Tell lawmakers to clean up the governor's mess

Governor Cuomo's test-and-punish agenda has left a real mess for the State Legislature to clean up.

As the 2015 legislative session draws to a close, the governor is renewing his efforts to double down on public school over-testing, on private school tax credit schemes and on charter school expansion.

You can help stop him.

Take action now at the NYSUT Member Action Center to tell lawmakers to oppose shady private school tax credits, to oppose charter school expansion efforts and to fix the revised APPR system!

Among the outstanding issues still under consideration in the Legislature are two anti-public schools schemes that only the governor and his hedge fund billionaire cronies could love. The first is a shady private school tax credit that would shift money away from public schools and services and use it to benefit private schools and wealthy families. The second is a radical expansion of privately run charter schools. Both of these outrageous schemes must be opposed!

At the same time, we continue to plead with the Legislature to fix the governor's broken testing and evaluation system. This is a serious problem that cannot be ignored!

Time is running out, but lawmakers still have an opportunity to do the right thing! Make sure they do it!

In solidarity,

Andrew Pallotta
NYSUT Executive Vice President

P.S.: Take action now to tell lawmakers to do the right thing for education as the session ends!
