NYSUT family mourns the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka

ALBANY, N.Y. Aug. 5, 2021 — New York State United Teachers President Andy Pallotta issued the following statement today on the passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka:

“Richard Trumka was a lion of the labor movement, fighting tirelessly for the rights of all workers and helping lead organized labor through some of the harshest attacks we have faced in recent memory. The entire NYSUT family mourns his passing, and we extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones and to our sisters and brothers in the labor movement who worked closely with him.”

New York State United Teachers is a statewide union with more than 600,000 members in education, human services and health care. NYSUT is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, the National Education Association and the AFL-CIO.
