NYSUT President Melinda Person released the following statement in response to the surge in hate incidents on school campuses.

“The rise in antisemitism and other overt acts of hate in schools and on college campuses is deeply disturbing and utterly indefensible. School grounds are supposed to be places where people from all backgrounds, faiths and beliefs feel safe and welcome. Such expressions of hatred violate core American values of inclusivity and respect and are unacceptable everywhere.”

New York State United Teachers is a statewide union with nearly 700,000 members in education, human services and health care. NYSUT is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, the National Education Association and the AFL-CIO.
