Summer sessions for National Board candidates

To help prospective applicants for National Board Certification, NYSUT is partnering with teacher centers to cosponsor a number of awareness sessions and writing institutes this summer.

The Greater Capital Region Teacher Center is offering a Summer Writing Institute for National Board candidates and a separate Candidate Support Providers Institute July 10-12 at the Carey Conference Center in Rensselaerville. You may register at My Learning Plan at the GCRTC or contact Maureen Shiland at mshiland@gmail.com. Contact Kathe Bryan at the Carey Center at 518-797-5100 for accommodations.

A "Jump Start to Take One!" workshop that will help candidates develop their video-based entry will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 27 at NYSUT Headquarters in Latham. Register at My Learning Plan at the GCRTC or contact Shiland at the email address above.

In New York City, the United Federation of Teachers Teacher Center is sponsoring informational sessions from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. May 31 and June 6 at the UFT Teacher Center, 52 Broadway. NBPTS/ Teacher Center Support sessions are June 14 and 20. To register, log on to ufttc.org and click on the NBPTS link.

In western New York, an awareness session is slated from 4 to 6 p.m. June 3 at the Teacher Center Library, 150 Lower Terrace, Buffalo. To register or for information on future sessions, contact Teri DiPasquale, theresa811@aol.com.
