United Federation of Teachers President Michael Mulgrew told his local's delegates to the RA that the UFT has always valued its close alliances with locals around New York state. "We have always taken great pride in working with and supporting our colleagues across the state," Mulgrew said at the UFT breakfast Saturday morning. "That is what has happened and will always happen."
American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten told UFT delegates that through such unity, NYSUT and the UFT can help to invigorate the labor movement and reclaim the promise of public education in the United States.
"The union movement will turn around this country," Weingarten said.
